Welcome to cyberonthewire.com, my name is Laurie and I’m currently based in London, England. The purpose of this website is to provide a place to share guidance in studying for and passing the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) exam. I have spent the last 8 years working in law enforcement and have seen a dramatic rise in cyber crime and information security related incidents. We live in an age where information is becoming easier and cheaper to store and share as well as in a society which is adopting an ever increasingly connected presence. It is thus only natural that we are likely to continue to see growth in the amount of effort (and funding) put into safeguarding information that is stored, processed and transmitted electronically.
This site is particularly aimed at those who are self-studying without attending physically delivered courses or taught lessons. I completed my degree through distance learning (graduating in 2016 with a Bachelor of Science with Honors) and the skills that I picked up along the way helped me when I decided to study for the CISSP exam which I passed in January 2017.
I intend to share how I planned my study, how I studied, how I revised, how I decided that I was ready to take the exam and my last preparations before walking into the exam room. Although this site concentrates on the CISSP exam you may find some of the study skills helpful in preparing for other exams.
I welcome feedback and invite you to contact me should you have any suggestions or questions. I wish you all the very best in your venture into the world of cyber security.
